Cindy Gardella, MSW, LCSW

For 25 years, I have been treating people who experience difficulties with relationships, careers, life transition, illness, loss and bereavement. They are smart, educated individual’s experiencing a crisis and want to improve their life.

Working with patients requires providing a safe neutral environment where they feel comfortable exploring their feelings and thoughts. At times this can be a painful process. A psychodynamic treatment approach works well with most patients as it is designed to help a person understand how they think and feel about themselves and think about how they relate to others. I will draw attention to the themes and patterns I am hearing. Often it is by reflecting on these themes we can make sense of what is being experienced in the patient’s present situation. By having an understanding of a problem and working through the emotions that are attached to the problem, patients experience relief and are able to move forward in their lives.

The ultimate goal of therapy is for the patient to experience a decrease in the symptoms, which brought them to seek treatment thereby experiencing more satisfaction in their daily lives.
